Understanding Different Text Cases
Each case has a specific grammatical or stylistic purpose.
- Sentence case: This is the most common case used in writing. The first letter of the first word is capitalized, as are any proper nouns or first words after a period. It is standard for paragraphs and body text.
- lowercase: All letters are converted to their lowercase form. This is often used to standardize data before processing it or for stylistic, minimalist headlines.
- UPPERCASE: All letters are capitalized. This case is used for strong emphasis, warnings, or in acronyms (e.g., SEO). Use it sparingly in your writing, as it can be perceived as "shouting."
- Title Case (or Capitalized Case): The first letter of every word is capitalized. This is commonly used for blog post titles, headlines, and book titles to make them stand out.
